Moire is a block-style sans serif font designed by Jim Ford in the spirit of typefaces popular during the 1950s.

The Moire font is slightly more efficient for a more modern voice than its predecessors. Moire is practical for all modern display settings in signs, publications, reports and presentations. The Moire font will also replicate well in on-screen uses from User Interfaces to web graphics.

This set of initial decorated letters was created, entirely re-drawn, and inspired by the well known Lombarde initial letters type. More precisely, the type used by early printers in Lyon (France) like Mathias Huss, Martin Havard or Jean Real, from the end of 14OOs to the middle of 1500s.

This font supports enlargement,bringing out its decorative qualities. The original medieval hight was about a half inch, equivalent to about two or three lines of characters. This font is an ideal complement for all our blackletters, but preferably the bastardes ones, because it was used to print popular cheap small books or flyers.

Font designed from this who was used by an unknown printer in Lyon (France) to print the “Conte de Griseldis ” (Griseldis' tale), from Petrarque, inspired by Boccace, in 1495.

The original font has a relatively small number of special characters and ligature, for the time. This font includes “long s”, naturally, as typicaly medieval but numerous letters - as accented ones - where added for this version. 1491 Cancellaresca Font Family Download

This font was inspired by the very well-known humanistic script called “Cancellaresca”.

This variant was used by a lot of calligraphers in the late 1400s, specially by the Venetian Giovannantonio Tagliente, whose patterns were mainly used for this font. You can compare this with 1610 Cancellaresca.

Numerals were inspired by Da Vinci manuscripts, from the same period. We added accented characters and a few others not currently existing at the time. A lot of titling alternates and ligatures are also included.

Font designed after that used in Brehan-Loudeac (Britanny, France) by Robin Fouquet and jean Crès in years 1480s to print a lot of texts and books.

This font include “long s”, naturally, as typically medieval, and a few special characters and abreviations, also some variants, like for “d”, “r” or “v”. The small “y” is accented, just like in British alphabet of the time, though the texts were printed in French. More…
